You're probably right. Sorry to jump in on this so late, but I just wanted to
add that the fringes have always seemed to protest gaming in general, and scan
the bookshelves for things to yell "Aha!" at. I did a paper in 1990 for my
writing class on "How gaming is not evil" since I found that my professor had a
few nephews into gaming and she wanted to know more. I found these books
dissing gaming in the Christian bookstore, and mind you, at the time I was
Christian, but I just had to laugh at the content. In one of the books, the
author actually stated that you should keep your children from playing
roleplaying games, especially AD&D, and instead should read to them safe fantasy
literature like Tolkein and CS Lewis. DUH! Tolkein was the inspiration for D&D!
I always wanted to send a copy of that book to Gary Gygax with a note saying,
how crazy fanatics can get sometimes that they defeat their own ideas.
Nah, the fringes will protest. The rest of society will snicker and move on.
Everyone has a right to an opinion. It's what you do with it that counts.
