There. I'd suggest looking at various stories from mythology. The Cauldron 
of Bran the Blessed from Celtic myth, The Golden Apples of Norse myt (as 
well as Golden Peaches from the orient), and the Philosopher's Stone were 
all reputed to have qualities that would ensure long life.
