A german general during World War 2. Fought in Africa (known by some as 'the
last gentleman's war'). Amazing general and tactician. As far as I can
ascertain, he was never a supporter of Hitler's racist policies, just someone
who (like Heinz Guderian, another incredible commander) thought that a
soldier's duty was to obey orders (mostly, Guderian did disobey a number of
Hitler's orders).
Rommel ended up being implicated in the bomb attempt on Hitler (though I don't
think he was actually in on it) and was allowed to kill himself with poison
over public execution.

Saint of mutants? I just did a report on Mustafa Kemal (aka Ataturk, leader of
Turkey in the 1920s and '30s) today. Why mutants (or am I thinking of a
different dude?).

I don't remember if it was something I made up a long time ago, or if it was
something I found on a site a long time ago, but I have a version of Jackie,
Saint of Humility. : }

Gotta go look that up now.

"As I look back, I see that it had been a mistake to send the letter. If you look far enough back, you will find that everything starts at some minor point. Something small becomes something very big. Something simple becomes complex. A brief moment of time becomes the focus of a tragedy. The letter was the minor point - something of no consequence that became the start of something of... importance." - Paul Thorgrimson, 'River of Blood, Path to Ruin,' October 2001
