Re: [HOE] Deadlands RTS

Okay, ART. now that's my back baby. As I said that's what I'm studying to do. I have a friend who's already been working on Deadlands models for Starcraft, so I'll try to get his butt on the listserv.

I've also been compiling a list, ever since I started Deadlands, or every Rascal, Vamint, Critter, Monster, Mutie, Misfit, including all the little people from the adventures that are there only to die. That may help for figuring out what units we want.

As for voices... I of course want to throw my hat into that as well (I am a recovering theatre major). However, from the looks of things, we only have one person so far who DOESN'T want to do voices. May I suggest that we "audition" for parts. There will most likely be plenty of units for us all to get our voices in, and we want to make sure that the big shots (Jo, Silas, Throckmorton, Ike, etc.) sound especially good. There is also a certain limitation to this for some of us I'm sure. Am I the only one that doesn't have a microphone for his computer? Everyone willing and able should make their best recodings of saying some lines (Archetype quotes would probably work great for this) and we can let the list decide.

And a quick question since I'm new to the list, can we send file attachments out on the list??

Alright, for artwork, think of something like starcraft's units.  we need 2 main things for each unit.  first is all the little pictures of them, 8 of each frame(1 from each side), standing, moving, and shooting.  next is the face picture, which consists of an idle animation(them standing there breathing) and a talking animation(their mouth moving).  these pictures are pretty small, so shouldn't be too hard.  the only issue is volume, there's gonna be a lot of these little sprites that need to be done.  once i'm sure of the proper sizes, i'll relay that.

Yeah, & I should be smart enough to READ all the piles of posts before responding.  Oh well.  Pulling foot out of mouth even as we speak.

As for voices, I'd offer mine, but I have a Nancy-girl voice that gets me called "Ma'am" whenever I answer the phone, so I'll pass.  Hmmm... artwork....  Just what would be required for that?

this is an interesting site..it's a RTS(realtime strategy) engine, and it's free.  with this you can make command and conquer-type games.  i'm going to start work on a deadlands:hoe version of it!  i've got the main ideas out, but i need a few people who could draw the little buildings and characters and vehicles.

here's how i see it:  your two factions are the iron alliance and the combine.  The combine can produce doomsayers, muties, automatons, raptors and the like while the iron alliance can make all the different character classes.  Build a library, you can attract librarians to help you research new technology and discover enemy weaknesses.  Build a junk shop and you can attract junkers, who help to equip wasters or build vehicles and the like.  it goes on and on, does this sound like a good idea to anyone else?
