[HOE] More Witch Stuff
Here's some more Witch hindrances and edges I've been tinkerin' with. As
always, any questions, comments, or feedback would be most appreciated.
Let's start with the Hindrances!
Back to Nature -3
Many witches like to live out in the wilderness. This might be part of the
reason why. When a witch casts spells out in the wild (woods, swamps,
desert, etc.) she makes the roll as normal. However, in any non-natural
setting (city, toxic waste dump, secret government lab) the witch's TN to
cast a spell is increased by 2.
Lunar Cycle -5
This brings new meaning to the term "that time of the month". On the night
of the full moon and the nights immediately before and after, the witch gets
a +2 bonus to any witchcraft rolls. Any other time of the month, she has a
-2 penalty. On the night of a new moon and the nights immediately before and
after, she gets a -6 to all witchcraft rolls.
Burn the Witch! -1 to -5
For each level in this hindrance, the witch takes an additional point of
damage from fire or flames.
Now, on to the edges.
Familiar 5
This edge is virtually identical to the one in Hucksters & Hexes.
Crone 5
Their are pretty witches, then there's the other kind. At least she's got
personality. When a witch takes this edge, she gets saddled with the 3-point
Ugly as Sin hindrance. However, she gets to raise her Knowledge and Spirit
by a level.
Coven 1-5
This edge makes your witch a member of a coven. The value of the edge
determines the size of the coven (1: 2 other members, 2: 4 others, 3: 6, 4:
9, 5: 12). First, this gives her an easier time of learning new spells, as
she can just learn it from a coven member as opposed to scavving in city
ruins for another copy of "How to Serve Your Man". Second, for every two
members of the coven present, your witch gets a +1 to all witchcraft rolls,
to a maximum of +5.
The downside is she's saddled with the 3-point obligation to her coven, and
no, she doesn't get extra points for this. This represents having to show up
for rituals, teach new spells to younger witches, and gathering ingredients
for more senior members.
