I´ve been turning this idea over in my head ever since first reading about the Harrowed. It pretty well crystalized after reading the deal about the Harrowed and sex (ie, they can´t do it). It seemed to me, though, that where there was a will (especially a stubborn, horny will), there would certainly be a way. So, for those Harrowed who´ve been aching for a way to get that other pistol outta yer pants, this one´s for you. I would appreciate any comments/suggestions.
MOJO RISIN'
Speed: 1 minute per level of the power
Duration: Wind cost by level (see below)
Dispostions: Big Britches, Cautious, Hankerin', Hi-Falutin', High Bluff or Mien, Loco, Randy, Yearnin, Degeneration
Prerequistes: A Harrowed wanting this power must first have Death Mask at level 3 or higher and either Stichin' or Reconstruction.
In order to use this power, a Harrowed must first use Death Mask to envision himself as he was prior to death and then use either Reconstruction or Stitchin' to make specialized, temporary "repairs" to his body´s skin and organs. At the lower levels, the power relies on the Harrowed´s own energy and willpower to force his body to function again. As the levels increase, the Harrowed learns to make actual repairs to body parts, which reduces the energy he must spend to keep the power active. This is also why the Speed of the power increases - it takes longer to activate because the Harrowed is making more extensive and complete repairs. The cost per level in Wind is as follows (Level 1: 4 wind/hour, 2: 3 wind/hour, 3: 2 wind/hour, 4: 1wind/hour, 5: 1 wind/day). Please note that this Wind cannot be recovered while the power is being maintained. Also the power cannot be maintained while the Harrowed is asleep or unconscious, though it will work if he´s Stunned. If the Harrowed runs out of Wind for any reason, the power ends as well.
This power effectively brings a Harrowed character back to full life! Sort of. All physical signs of undeath (including the Degeneration Hindrance) vanish for the power's duration. Mystical or spiritual effects (Protection miracles, holy ground, Mark of the Devil) remain applicable. A Harrowed using this power may eat and drink normally, gaining nourishment even from vegetables. He may also have sex normally and can even get his partner pregnant if he is male. Female Harrowed can technically get pregnant, but will miscarry the fetus as soon as the power ends (though with advanced (2094) medical or magical techniques, it would be possible for such a fetus to be transferred to a surrogate mother to be carried to full term). Harrowed under this power can also get drunk, catch illnesses (whose effects will generally disappear once the power ends, though a Harrowed with the Sicken power might act as a carrier) and are no longer immune to Wind or pain from non-magical effects. A punch in the nose hurts the living more than it does the dead. As a further bonus, this power ties a Harrowed much closer to life. Because of this, a Harrowed under the effects of this power subtracts his levels in it to any attempts by his manitou to seize control or test for dominion during the time that the Harrowed is under the power´s effects. Obviously, this doesn´t help during nightly Dominion tests, but it sure can help avoid those awkward moments and precarious situations caused by the Manitou taking control. As a final bennie, Harrowed with the Angst Hindrance can reduce their effective level in it by 1 for every level in this power while the power is active (So, a Harrowed with Angst -3 and Risin' 4 has no angst at all while the power is active).
Nice power, huh? A Harrowed using it gets to enjoy life more fully and has a tool to help keep his "little friend" from getting out of hand. Gotta be a catch, right? There is: A Harrowed under this power is fully alive and can die again without suffering maiming wounds to the head. Also, and here´s the kicker, if a Harrowed dies while under this power's effects, even if he dies from a maiming wound to the head, his manitou DOES NOT DIE WITH HIM! That's right, this power gives the little bastard an escape hatch from an "unfulfilling" relationship. That's one reason it's has some fairly high prerequisties - it's generally for experienced Harrowed. Experienced Harrowed generally get that way by maintaining a pretty tight lid on their little "friends." They keep total or near-total Dominion most of the time. This power, though, allows a manitou to tempt their Dominant partners into self-destructive situations. And if the manitou DOES manage to take over their host while the power is active, they can potentially ride the "suicide express" back to the freedom of the Hunting Grounds. For what it's worth, a Harrowed who dies (of anything but a maiming head wound) while under this power's effects can become Harrowed again, but it's pretty unlikely (Subtract 1 from their Grit (and any additions that increase the chances of becoming Harrowed) for every level in this power.
