[HOE] Quick question....

I've been meaning to ask a question on the HoE section that may be answered
in the books, but since I only have "the two" rule books, I don't know......

Considering all the funky gizmos in DL Weird West, why are all the guns in
HoE so normal?  Where are the laser pistols & the plasma guns, & hyperspace
grenades, & such?  Yeah, these things would most likely be gizmos too, but
the manitous were whispering into the Mad Scientists' ears right up until
they stopped, right?  So shouldn't there be some really cool gizmos out
there?  Even better, since this stuff got a leg up during the 1870s,
shouldn't that give the sane scientists enough time to study the gizmos, &
have them make sensible items out of them?  (ie: gizmos with a Reliability
of 20)  Like the Deep Space Nine actor says in that commercial:  "It's now
the 21st century.  So where are the flying cars??!  I was promised flying
cars!!!!"
