[HOE] Deus Ex Machina

A recent post mentioned that he was going to use Deus Ex Machina to save the 
pary from a beastie in Boise.  


      Now, how many of you have seen this sort of adventure (your party does 
something then at the end the big bad NPC fixes everything)?  I know I've 
seen way too many.  And they're never fun, since in the end, the party 
doesn't matter.  
       The closest I could see to this adventure being fun is the "We need to 
hold off the HArrowed Shaman Death Cyborg for ten minutes until the cavalry 
can get here.  <Arcane energy blast atomizes the party's car>, yay, now we 
got nine minutes fifty five seconds more of that kind of treatment to deal 
with".
