You'll loose all your fate chips if you keep reading... There, that scared
'em away!

Well... You'd probably get Deadland Created monsters... But they just
don't seem as fearsome from out here. :-) (Sorry folks, had to do the
paraphrase!).

Personally, I have to thank Shane for this "Official Statement"... See, the
new guy in my group is a bit obsessed with the Maelstromes, and are sure
that they hold the answer to ridding the World of the Reconers, and is
talking with his Trash Spirit buddies about it. (He's also annoying any
Junker he gets in contact with about it as well, which didn't endear him to
the Uber-NPC that travels with the Posse, Ol' Zeke, the 244-Year Old Walking
Dead Guy and Spook Juice Producer.). He's sure that I'm keeping the full
story on 'em from him, and that this is, indeed the answer!!!

While I am keeping stuff from the group (Such as the fact that I don't know
weither the Maelstromes are part of the equation, or just a side effect!),
this isn't one of them, and it helps distract him from the problems at hand
on occasion. :-)

I would, personally, have the Maelstrome "Kicked down a notch", and increase
the number of card pulls for entering Boise Proper by one (The story for
this is in "The Last Crusaders" PIN 6008.).

The Posse is on their way to Boise now, in fact, returning the "Sword"
(Acutally a "Bisento", an Asian Pole Arm) to Simon, and trying to get in
good with the Wasteland Knights...

But first... They'll meet up with an old foe of Mankind!!! MUH-HA-HA-HA!!!

And, when they do, I can throw in a Dues Ex Machina (No, not the city) NPC
to further them in the good graces of Simon and the Templars. That way, it
isn't stupid when they suddenly get asked to perform an important mission...
  :-)

OK Ray, back on track... The Maelstromes are, apparently, a side effect of
the Ghost Rock Bombs, not just a Deadland. As the Bombs MAKE a Deadland, it
can be easy to confuse the two. Naturally created Deadlands (Those created
out of simple fear, not the detonation of a Nuke) don't have them. If I had
to make a ruling in game, I'd say that, first, the Fear Level of the area
would have to be considerably lowered (Fear Level 1, maybe 2), and kept
there for the time it takes for the Maelstrome to (Super?)naturally
disperse, which is between 9 and 11 years on average (Larger bombs take
longer, smaller ones won't, simple, no?).

In other words, a long, ardious task for even the best equipped Posse!!!

As the Maelstrome feeds off fear, the fact that the whole Earth is one big
Deadland (Well, not really, but not that far off, either!), means that this
just can't be done in ANY city (Nope, not even Boise can't help but have the
occasional fear spike that'll kick the storm back to normal).

But that's just me...

Ray.
