Re: [HOE] Movie/Adventure Idea
Couple ways I can think of...
1). Make sure he's low on Strain before the posse enters the mall. Let him
get all that destructive energy out of his system first. Give him something
to blow up ahead of time, like a radrat swarm or a pack of War Dogs or a
wasteland raider's truck. If the posse is then immediately thrust into the
situation with the mall, the Doomie mightn't have enough Strain left to do
something like that, and remember that Strain needs one calm, restful hour
per point to recover. Not likely to happen in the midst of a
survival-related crisis.
2). If the mall is somewhat old and unstable, nuking it (or using any kind
of explosive, mass-destructive solution) could cause more harm than help.
It doesn't do any good to nuke the wall only to have part of the second
story walkways come crashing down to fill the hole back in (or crush folks).
3). Try to appeal to the posse's greed; an abandoned mall is a good place to
look for salvage. And most posses probably view zombies as cannon fodder
anyway, so their preservational instincts might not be telling them to
run...just yet.
Other than all that, I wouldn't FORCE the posse to stay. If they're
determined enough to figure out a way to blast a hole through the wall, then
let'em go for it. Any posse that is sufficiently determined to solve a
problem through the liberal application of brute force will PROBABLY find a
way to succeed. So let them, but don't reward them much.
