Re: [HOE] content ideas
Well...
Okay, sure.
>the lonely man
Wasters in Arizona have been reporting the appearance of a
benevolent-but-mysterious stranger to a local Librarian. A tall man clad in
patchwork armor, with his face covered by a scarf and wide-brimmed hat, has
been visiting several local settlements and leaving bundles of supplies,
ranging from canned goods to spare ammunition. He never speaks to anyone,
nor does he stick around longer than it takes for him to drop off his cargo.
Several people have attempted to follow him only to be fired upon by the
stranger, who apparently wishes to be left alone. The settlement of Winslow
is offering a negotiable payment of foodstuffs to anyone who can discover
where the lone wanderer is acquiring his goods.
>zombie shots
Antonio Sommers, Law Dog in the SoCal area, has asked settlements to be on
alert. According to reports, a short, bald man driving a beat-up 2074 Ford
Challenger pickup has visited three survivor towns in the last two weeks for
trading purposes, his trade consisting of nothing but bottles of pre-War
Grey Goose vodka. However, all those who have consumed the vodka have
fallen prey to some kind of transformative illness which causes the death
and reanimation of the victims. A rash of zombies has forced the breakup of
the small community of Spade's Bluff, and the other settlements are
reporting shortages of farmworkers and ammo. The trader was last seen
moving west, towards Movie Town. Officer Sommers is asking anyone who
encounters this man to detain him and destroy whatever cargo he has left.
>Pink Lillies
Librarian Mike Watkins has recently unearthed computer records with
potentially valuable data. According to the files, taken from an on-line
journal of biotechnology, just before the War, Restoragen, Inc. had just
patented an engineered strain of Water Lily which produced a natural
antibiotic. Checking with the Grand Library, Librarian Watkins found a
reference to a Restoragen Corporation located in Lincoln, Nebraska. The
Grand Library is asking for volunteers to escort a cadre of Librarians to
Lincoln in search of any remaining specimens that might have been preserved.
Transportation and supplies will be provided, as well as any salvage
opportunities that present themselves.
>Rubbin juice
A traditional witch's "flying ointment" is a mixture of pig's fat and
several hallucinogenic herbs which is rubbed into the skin and absorbed.
The user then enters a comatose state in which he has an "out-of-body
experience", giving the impression of flying. Now add spook juice to the
mixture and see what happens. It's quite possible that the spook juice
could cause a true out-of-body experience, though perhaps with some
malicious side-effects.
>Carlston heights
Previously a fancy high-rise hotel in New Mexico, the Carlston Heights
somehow managed to escape the worst of the War in (mostly) one piece.
Travelers who stumble across the building might be surprised to discover
that the remains of the multi-story tower are now the home to a community of
170 people. Electricity has been partially restored thanks to the help of a
local Junker, and the recreational garden on the rooftop has been turned
into a small farm plot. Though they don't have much to trade, the Heights
are available as a hospice and rest-area for road-weary wanderers. Fifty
bullets worth of trade goods is enough for a comfortable, mostly-clean bed
and partial air-conditioning/heating.
