I heard this as well and looked at the new Star Wars d20 stuff. It's nicely put
together but it just .. doesn't work for me. For people who haven't played the
old D6 based game I bet it's fine but I still think that West End did it better
and faster. And you are right Space Opera isn't all that different from Hack and
Slash and it's a near perfect match as far as westerns go.
The rush for everyone to put stuff out for a brand new Generic system that is
so specialized surprised me, but money talks loudly. Or the promise of it. It
was just irritating to read the Weird wars stuff and see what a pain Shane and
Co. were having trying to fit a great concept into the D20 system when they have
IMHO one of the best game engines for pulp horror already out there, but aren't
using it because the D20 will bring in more money, no matter how clunky it may
be. The D20 system that is, not Weird Wars.
Its the curse of under-appreciated genies. Geniis? Jean-yus!:)
