Re: [HOE] Desert Eagle = ultimate wasteland gun
Alright. Here's how I would do this based on the data from the Magnum
Research site.
--Desert Eagle Mark XIX Component System.--
A popular weapon before the Last War, the Desert Eagle Mark XIX was often
seen on the silver screen in the hands of beefy action heroes or in the
hands of trendy firearm enthusiasts down at the range. After the world went
to Hell, this gun quickly became the favorite of many a savvy waster.
By itself the Desert Eagle is a fine gun, but its true value lies in its
modular design. The Mark XIX is capable of being converted into four
different calibers; .357 Magnum, .44 Magnum, .440 Cor-Bon, and .50 pistol.
In a world where specific ammo can be hard to come by, the ability to use
four different kinds of bullets is something that gunslingers treasure. The
kit also includes an optional 10-inch barrel which can replace the original
6-inch one for some extra punch.
Not too many folks have the complete Mark XIX kit these days, but a lot of
people have the handguns. The heavier calibers are especially popular with
gang leaders and other folks who like the macho image that comes from having
such a hand-cannon.
Regardless of the caliber it comes chambered in, Desert Eagles trade for
around $200 for just the handgun. The tools for swapping the caliber of the
gun go for an extra $150 each. The 10-inch barrels also can be had for an
extra $50 per caliber. So, the whole kit-and-caboodle can be had for about
$1000, although most scavs who come across a complete conversion package
will likely charge two to three times as much for the entire setup.
Converting the gun's caliber or changing the barrel requires a Fair (5)
Trade: Gunsmith or Onerous (7) Tinkerin' roll. The extended barrel adds one
extra die of damage and increases the Range Increment by 5, but decreases
the ROF by 1 (or increases the ROF to 2 if you use the older ROF rules).
Desert Eagle Mark XIX (R)
--Price: $200
--Ammo: .357, .44, .440, or .50
--Shots: 9 (.357), 8 (.44), 7 (.440 and .50)
--Speed: 1
--ROF: 2 (although I much prefer the old ROF rules myself...)
--Range: 10
--Damage: 3d6 (.357) or 4d6 (.44, .440, and .50)
All optional components are Very Rare.
Hooray for firearms!
