*Ahem* Speaking as your generic high school track runner here... I can run
close to a 5-minute mile here (well, 5:02... but I digress). It takes a
_lot_ of training and time to be able to do this. I've been training
practically year-round for about two years now, and only this season was I
able to dip down close to the 5-minute mark. So, unless the heroes go on
morning distance run and interval workout, they would *realistically* not
be able to run 5-minute miles. Now, as for attaining that same speed in
sprints, that's another issue entirely... But maintaining that speed for
long distances with lots of training? No.
