|
| I think this is a common misconception:
|
| (Check me) To make things simple let's look at 2d10 vs. 3d10. Now there
is
| ONE way to go bust on 2d10 (both 1's), and FOUR ways to go bust on 3d10
| (1st and 2nd die, 1st and 3rd, 2nd and 3rd, all three). So that's 4x the
| odds!
|
| No it's not because there 100 possible die rolls on 2d10 (2 x 10) and
1000
| possible die rolls on 3d10 (10 x 10 x 10).
|
| So for 2d10, the odds of going bust is 1/100
| And for 3d10, the odds of going bust is 4/1000 -> 0.4/100
|
| Am I missing something?

Dunno, but I do think you're making this way too complex. Here's what I
know: if I roll 2d10, I need to roll two ones to go bust. If I roll 3d10,
I still need to roll two ones to go bust, but I have more dice with which
to do it.

Seems pretty simple, but then, I'm a writer, not a math geek.
