For one thing, with two 2 sensor and 2 commo a simple pair of binoculars is the
size of a briefcase.

Basic sensors provide a 90-degree scan arc, with no especial penalties. If there
*were* monoptic penalties involved with basic sensors, wouldn't it have
mentioned it in the book? It's a pretty important consideration. I'd say if you
want a monoptic sensor, either apply the beam scan mod or a side effect.
