Maybe it's just me, but I always assumed that the claws in Iron Oasis were
more akin to the kind that, say, Wolverine has; they come out from around
the back of the hand rather than the fingertips.  I mean, they do the same
damage as a large knife, which implies that they're a little bit bigger than
fingertip razors.  Anyway, those kinds of claws would be used with a basic
punching motion.

So, from a purely practical standpoint, I'd say sure, let him use them
(provided you buy into my idea of how the claws work...).

On the other hand, I'm not so sure how "mystical" Deadlands martial arts are
(I'm waiting for Waste Warriors as I type this), so take my opinion with a
grain of salt.
