Granted.

But - it is GURPS - Deadlands.  Gurps has built it's base off of being a 
universal set of mechanics.  That is what the Gurps fanbase is based off 
of.  It's probably better to not alienate that fanbase as that's the 
mechanics they are used to.  Also, there are people who dislike the DL 
mechanics - they could possibly pick up the gurps books because it is an 
alternative.

Make them happy but introduce them to the incredibly rich setting that DL 
is.  Some of them may pick up the DL core books.  Just get the setting 
right.  Anyway to get access to the playtest site without having to pay 
money for website access?

Hmm.  Perhaps one variation from the pure gurps mechanics.  The 
Hucksters.  That way the Gurps players will be forewarned to expect 
something different.

Of course, SJG may really be delaying the book until the Pinnacle situation 
stabilizes.
