Do the Reckoners (or whoever) really _need_ to send something after him?  
Presumably they don't bother, which is why Diablos aren't around any more 
anyway.

Alternately, who says that diablos aren't around?  Just up their power 
levels (rad-mutated diablos?  *heh*), and justify it by saying the reason 
that people don't know they're around is because nobody ever survives an 
encounter with them...
