[HOE] Scavenging from other games
Found this on the HoE forums - some really good ideas. . .
Actually, I think that some the outside sources can give you better ideas.
I was looking for phobias for a veteran in Call of Cthulhu (because why
make a hero afraid of Hangin' Judges or zombie when they can have crippling
fears of bridges, light, or even men/women?). CoC also has excellent
adventure ideas for dipping into EXTREME occult. Ya can't beat their
new(ish) inch and a half thick adventure!
My Weird West group has turned down the Agency path, so I've started
looking at my James Bond RPG stuff (exotic locals is very good for
adventure ideas), as each adventure comes with a dossier of Q Branch
equipment that the Agency can easily immitate.
In Hell on Earth I turned to my Warhammer roots and have converted most of
the 40,000 era weapons to the 21st century complete with stability for the
more powerful guns. I've used the Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay stuff to make
monsters and relics, and to warp the minds of players with the evil cult
adventures.
I've been thinking about using Tank Girl's (by West End) Useless Skill
Chart, just for fun. I used it a lot in Cyberpunk, which I've drawn on for
a more recnt past of the Hell on Earth world. Cyberpunk also has the best
underwater combat system I've seen to date, but I haven't had a chance
(relace with excuse) to use it yet. Their Zero-G system ain't bad neither
(but that's for Lost Colony).
You only live twice, Mr. Idiot.
