[HOE] Apocalypse now
Well,
Is the adventure too tough? Well, any adventure is too tough if the
marshall doesn't understand that he doesn't play to win. Seeing as how the
Marshall is full control of reality, what he says, goes. When I run, I draw
an extreme difference between mooks and main villains. Black hats should be,
on the whole, incompetant. Since that part is only the beginning of the
adventure, especially so. Sometimes, you have to fudge the die rolls to let
the wookies win.
But I think the order should be changed though. I began the adventure
with the party hiding out from a black rain storm.... at... Polson field! I
let the wormlings attack, and I let the party get out by the skin of their
teeth. So when a wounded, chewed on party, learns of a town held by
black-hats. They're tired, they're near out of ammo, but they're heroic! So
they go into the town. They find a Skeleton crew guarding the hostages.
They take this crew down Easily (remember, they're Mooks). Here is where
they interrogate one of the last Hats, and they find out these guys have a
tip on a G-Rock Bomb, so they've taken the daughter as a hostage and they're
gong back to Polson Field....
I liked this better, because when the party finds this out, Several ideas
pop into their heads since they already know what's at Polson.
1) DUDE! There was valuable stuff there!
2) Them Black Hats are Worm food!
3) Uh oh, so's the Little girl
4) But we almost died last time we were there, and now we gotta go back!?
5) We're Heroes Damnitt, We're going down there, we're getting the girl,
6) Once we get the girl, we're nuking it from orbit, it's the only way to
be sure.
