[HOE] The Librarian's Almanac for October 6th

NEAR BEAUMONT, TEXAS- Sister Athena, a Schismatic Doomsayer known for
charity, logs a very strange report with the local Law Dogs. Last week,
Michael Lafayette, a Law Dog rumored to be a little on the greedy side, died
under very strange circumstances. Lafayette hung his hat in one of the
reclaimed homes in Mesquite, Texas along with about fifty others that have
been scavenging from the remains of the city.
Mesquite has earned a reputation of a place where anything goes and justice
can often be found inside some deep pockets. Sister Athena was present with
a few traveling companions when Lafayette's home exploded in a foul blast
that spewed great black clouds that sported crimson skeletal facial patterns
in the swirls.
Upon investigation, Athena found that although most of the home was
leveled, there was no sign of the Law Dog's body, but it was obvious that he
was getting a share from the stolen goods taken by local gangers. Among some
of the plunder is a number of books written in various versions of Latin,
several different editions of "How to Serve your Man" that bore the stench
of brimstone and a baker's dozen of mildly radioactive mutant skulls. The
house sports a huge hole in the floor that drops twenty feet into the earth,
and locals avoid it like the plague. There are mysterious ethereal screams
coming from the house that have frightened off hardened war vets.

SEDONA, ARIZONA- Robin Lansing, a Librarian, arrives with a report of
Combine Automatons spotted digging in abandoned silver mines along the
Arizona-New Mexico border.
