I asked John Hopler or Goff about that. My understanding was that a GR storm 
was treated as spiritual damage...and radiation damage...and magical damage. 
  All protections apparently apply.  However, Tolerance only protects 
against low levels, which I don't believe includes a GR maelstrom/wall.  
Stuff like Rad-Tolerant would help, though (again, apparently).

I don't believe it says, but IMO the targets of _any_ attack have to be 
declared before rolling. Basically, MIRV works just like Atomic Blast.  
Since you have to declare a target for Atomic Blast, I'd say you hvae to 
declare the target(s) for MIRV as well.

IMO, Geiger Vision would at least let you get your foot in the door, 
although I'd probably then have them make some kind of Cognition/Search 
rolll, with a TN based on how small/obscure the mutation is. Don't believe 
anything official is stated, though.
