[HOE] Comment on Hexarcana
Hey...again...all,
Just had to...

"I gotta tell ya, I was a lot more offended/concerned about the pictures
shoved into Hexarcana. They look like they were drawn by a third-grade
art
class. Maybe it's just me, but I'm a lot more disconcerted by poor
quality
than I am by poor taste."
I respond:
Amen, Brother Gus!! Preach on! Some of that were some of the WORST
eye-sores. Apologies to the artist abounds, its nothing personal, I
don't know you from anyone...but that art. Man, makes me wish folks'd
follow the old saying: "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't
say anything at all." (a little irony there, no?) And this applies to
the visual world, or should, I'd think. If you don't have anything nice
to show for graphic content, don't bother. I, personally, have no
problem with just text and charts.
Although, that said, mucho kudos to Rebner for his chapter-header
pieces, and, of course, a full round of applause for Goff. Hexarcana,
despite the aforementioned gripe, is WONDERFUL, ranking right up their
with my Brainburners, Last Crusaders, and Children of the Atom books for
sheer usefullness and dollar-for-content value. Knowing what's in it,
I'd have gladly paid an additional ten or fifteen. The stuff it adds
(for both Weird and Wasted West) is just incredible. My book's already
got a spine crease. ;)
