I'm all for the character not getting a free companion, though the
example about not growing an arm back if you're a two gun kid falls a bit
flat because, with a strict adherence to the rules, you CAN grow back
severed limbs.
But, a plot device is a plot device. The Marshal who I'm handing my game
off to in a week is considering "giving" the Templar character the
Sidekick edge (a squire), just to help keep him in line. It sounds like
a good plan to me...
