They are still around - but they are more "free-willed" nowadays.  The 
Reckoners no longer need them to slap down heroes,  (at least they think 
so) but the Diablos still tend slap around high-grit heroes, just to keep 
their hand in, as it were.

(Thumbing back to the only reference I have of a Diablos getting 
killed)  Looks like the body hangs around.
