I really got to agree with ya here. In my humble opinion, HOE should be
alot more like a Mad Max Sequel and a lot less like a documentry. Making
the game too real, or the heroes too human ruins the game. I mean like
McCallum says, half the fun of HOE (or any good RPG for that matter,) is
that the characters are larger than life. That they can blow up the bad
guys, and when the smoke clears, somehow stagger out of the ruins. Severely
wounded, but alive (or Harrowed) enough to fight another day.
Now I'm not saying that Marshals should be afraid to plant a few heroes from
time to time,(better still, let em' go out in a blaze o' glory.) But, the
word "Cinamatic" is a fairly common occurance in several DL/HOE supplements,
and I believe that's done for a good reason. When you can get your posse to
react the same way they would at a good movie, (laughing, cheering, throwing
popcorn or nacho chips at you,) You'll know exactly what I'm talking about.
