Interesting (and OT) note:
Back in my D*D munchkin days, I found that if you target a Fireball at ground level instead of an air burst, you increase its diameter by about 20-25% since the spell shapes its otherwise spherical detonation to fit the area.
Useless, tournament-weenie trivia...
