[HoE] A Syker Question...
I started reading Brainburners again because it's spiffy and I got it signed
by Steve Long.. anyway, I now have a question or two..
Question 1:
Fortitude says, "A syker can continue to use powers up to double his normal
Strain. When a syker uses Strain beyond that (he goes negative), he must
make a simultaneous Vigor check with each blastin' roll. The TN is equal to
5 plus the amount of Strain he's taken over his normal limit. If he makes
the roll, nothing happens. If the roll is failed, the poor schmuck has to
roll and the new Brainburn Table."
-Brainburners - p.39
Does this mean that a Base Strain of 10 would go to 20, and if I pushed to
21 I'd make a Vigor roll at TN 16 (since my original Strain was 10) or at TN
6 (new Strain of 20). I guess my question is what is "his normal limit."
Another way of interpreting this I guess would be to say that when you hit
11 Strain, make the Vigor roll at 6. 12 Strain roll at 7, up to a max of 20
Strain and a Vigor check at TN 15... I don't think that's right though.
Question 2:
Steel-Trap Mind - let's say I have this at level 3. Using the example above,
is my Strain a 26 or a 23? Basically, which takes precedence, Fortitude's
doubling, or STM's bonus?
thanks in advance..
