[HoE] G-ray vs. Spook Juice "efficiency"
I've been designing various vehicles, what with the release of Iron Oasis
andall, and one thing has me puzzled...
Why would a Junker _ever_ use Spook Juice to power his Junker/vehicle?
Fuel tanks seem to be relatively inefficient space-wise (10 slots for one
gallon). For the same 10 slots, you could store 100 g-rays (with a power
pack), or 80 g-rays if you prefer spirit batteries.
So for instance, Marv's Motorcycle could conceivably travel 1428 miles on
the Power Pack built into it (assuming [Top Speed/hr] * Power Pack G-Rays /
Drain/hr], of course), before a recharge.
(Using Top MPH Speed may be unreasonable for land vehicles, bt I'm not sure
how fuel-efficient travelling less than top speeds are for sj-powered
devices, either. It is also less of an issue when you get into
airplanes...)
Marv's Motorcycle can go 1142 miles if you assume Spirit Batteries instead.
But if you use Spook Juice, it can only go 650 miles on a tank!
And the efficiency differences become even worse as the vehicle sizes
increase, and as you get into air vehicles.
For instance, I built a VTOL that can go 1680 miles on a single charged
power pack, 1247.5 miles on a charged spirit battery, but only 108.16 miles
on a tank of Spook Juice!
I designed a Balloon that runs 3920 miles on a single charged power pack,
3150 miles on a charged spirit battery, but only 377.24 miles on a tank of
Spook Juice!
I designed a 2-Passenger car that runs 6000 miles on a single charged power
pack, 4800 miles on a charged spirit battery, but only 200 miles on a tank
of Spook Juice!
I designed a mini-Tank (holds two passengers) that runs 8760 miles on a
single charged power pack, 7020 miles on a charged spirit battery, but only
395.10 miles on a tank of Spook Juice!
I can provide the stats for these vehicles if folks want them. However, in
all cases the above assumes that the space devoted to the "power source" is
the same for all three sources.
In most of these cases, Spook Juice seems to be only about 1/10th as
efficient as g-rays.
Granted, ghost rock for Junker-refinement is probably less available than
Spook Juice (although spirit batteries seem to represent a decent compromise
here - charge them up with advance and take them with you).
Still...has anyone else noticed this? There just doesn't seem to be any
real reason for any Junker-vehicle to be designed to run on Spook Juice.
