[HoE] Re: Timeline

Hrm. MY big thing with the timeline is that supplements seem to make
Futuretech more prevalent than Junkertech. Cybertechnology (particularly the
Infiltrators), Data Slugs and the Librarian's Palm Recorders seem too "clean"
a technology to have evolved from Mad Science. I don't get a sense of that
cobbled-togetherness that most Mad Science seemed to have going for it.

I know that Palm Pilots are used by a ton of techies today, and that a Data
Slug is just a fancy type of floppy, but it still seems too "normal." I much
preferred the huge monstrosities that WrdWst MS's constantly had to tinker
with, and the whole flavour of Junkers was changed by JC. Not that I don't
think the "new" Junkers aren't cool, but (1) it doesn't feel "junk-y" enough,
and (2) I liked the idea of a Junker grabbing a passing manitou by the
unmentionables and FORCING it into a component to make it work, which was the
sense of it that I got in the main rulebook. Again, NOTHING wrong with the
"new" ones...I just liked the other [interpreted] version better.

What do y'all think? I'm not talking about "advancement" per se...more about
the flavour of the tech.
