In the original timeline, the Reckoners were all but defeated. The fear
Level of the world was dropping and they were losing energy. At *that*
point in time [we'll call it TimeLine A], they only had enough power to
send Stone back once. When he went back and killed all those heroes, the
heroes weren't around to stop the Reckoners minions. After Stone killed
the heroes, it created a new timeline [we'll call this TimeLine B]in
which the Fear Level stayed the same or rose, giving the Reckoners more
energy. In TimePoint B, the Reckoners had far more energy than they did
when they were almost defeated in TimeLine A, so they had more energy at
their disposal and could send Stone back a second time if neccessary.
