I don't know of any legal complications for putting banners on your site.
Me, I loathe the things, but I suppose they are a necessary evil. TANSTAAFL.

Somebody... please forgive me, I've forgotten who, and it was only just
last week... registered deadlands.com or something similar as a domain
name, and was offering to let other people use it for their websites. You
could create "deadlands.wasters.com". Hopefully someone will chime in and
provide more information than I can... and I apologize for my short term
memory.

I don't know of any trademarks on Wasters, so you're probably safe there.

PEG's been pretty easygoing as far as permission and such. Just make sure
you don't use any of their copyrighted text from any of their books. They
don't seem to mind us fans using their logos and certain images (marshall
stars, huckster, and the occaisonal wendigo), but just about everybody
sticks some disclaimers down at the bottom of the page to acknowledge PEG's
trademarks, logos, copyrights and so on.
