Wizards of the Coast is a vertical monopoly, not a
horizontal monopoly. Last I checked, vertical
monopolies *are* legal, while horizontal ones aren't.

Here's the difference: in a vertical monopoly, a
company controls one of each step of production:
printing, sale, etc. With a horizontal monopoly, they
control all of one step of production: all printing
methods, for example.

Other companies can still compete with them, and do
their business without having to deal directly with
something WotC owns.
