Well, it states in HoE that Sykers have been around since WWI(Sgt. York
and all...). So Sykers have been around for 30 or 40 years. I would go
more along with they are still ultra-seceret.

IIRC, the Hippie movement was anti-technology. They believed that
everyone should go "back to nature". As well as the whole, peace/love
thing. I would figure *any* arcan abilities hippies would have would be
illusionary or medicinal. ("Psyche-Out"s and so forth).

I would chalk these cults up as some of the reasons the US and CS gov'ts
were working on their cyborg programs(granted, they weren't successful until
the 90s, but that doesn't mean they don't have any "prototypes" running
amuck). I would also figure with Eastern philosophies becoming more popular
around this time period, Monks of the 37th Chamber would have folks lining
up outside wanting to join, as well as other schools in and around the Great
Maze.
As for Chuck Manson, we all know he's a servant of the Reckoners.
