[HoE] Miniature painting Tips (long)
Greetings all
I too have had some trouble decideing how to paint my HOE minis, so i will
impart all my painting knowledge to you, and i play warhammer so belive me i
have painting knowledge. To start off your going to need to decide weather
you want to glue them together before or affter you paint them. The only
real differance it makes is its alot eiasier to do details and get all the
cracks if you paint the pieces seperately. To glue them together I recomend
standard Super Glue, it works great just don't get in on your fingers. After
that you need to undercoat it. A under coat is a special pain used to seal
all the pours of the metal and to give you a clean even serface to paint on.
There are several types out there just for Mini's, most come in two colors:
black or white. Which color you use will have a impact on the look of the
miniature, if you want it to have a darker look to it go with black, if you
want a lighter look use white. I recomend the stuff Cidital makes, its a
little pricy but it gets the job done. Now for brushes your going to need
basically three: A large base coat brush, a medium brush for dry brushing and
filling in smaller areas, and a very fine brush for doing detail work. You
can find these in hobby, craft, or art stores. Now you need to choose your
paints. It is very important to have some idea of the color scheme you want
before you go out and get the paints. Once you've decided the color scheme
head out and grab the paints. As for types of paints any type will do.
Personally i use a mix of Testors modeling paint and Cidital Miniature paint.
Try to stay away from craft acrylic paint it tends to give a very dull
color, but if thats what you want then by all means do it. Once you've got
all that together find a large flat serface where you can work. Assumming
that you already applied the undercoat the next step is the base coat. The
base coat is the defalt color of the miniature it is usually the p[redominant
color of the scheme. Your going to need to cover the entire model with that
color. Once you've got all that its just up to detailing, i can't give you
any real tips on that except that everyone has thier own way of doing it.
Don't get frustrated if some techniqe dosent work for you, your going to have
to find your own personal way.
Thats All i can give you. Enjoy
