Re: [HoE] assorted [HOPLER]
ok first my bit on the norm thing! well the thing to remember with norms is
that they have that many point's to spend in such areas as Demolition,
Overawe, Persuasion, Ridicule, Swimmin', etc, as the AB's have to invest
points to become an AB, and then invest in the appropriate skills (Occult
Engineering, Faith, Blastin), and the edges that go hand in hand (Fortitude,
Steel Trap Mind, Extra Powers, Mo' Miracles, Child of the Atom, etc!) having
seen my Syker invest 18 points in em (AB Syker 3, Fortitude 1, Blastin' 5,
Steel Trap Mind 5, Extra Powers 4) when he could have invested them into his
fightin' skill or shootin' skill. Having just run the Shape of things A
commin' adventure and seen him cast Arson once and nothing else, and seeing
the Law Dog (Harrowed but that never came into it) and Templar (I'll get to
these guys in a mo!) dominate the adventure, with the old geezer Tale Teller
and Road Warrior a poor 3rd and 4th (the Syker comes last for not doing
anything really!). Anyway back to the point the Road Warrior is a crap
roleplayer which is why she did nothing at all (confronted by scavvys armed
with guns, she gets out her knife! for god's sake!!!!!!!) and the Tale
Teller is just well stupid. Now the Harrowed Law Dog is an awesome gun
fighter which is why he dominated and his harrowedness only came into it
when I decided I wanted control (now this IS a disadvantage, watching him
run, when he took 2 wounds to the head, leaving the rest to take the shape
on!), and well the templar!
Now the Templar is a unbalanced I'd say from experience! having a character
who specialises in a sword, investing his 4D12 he pulled in strength, with a
fightin': sword AND florentine of 5 (also D12), plus inner strength of 2,
means he's gonna hit most of the time, and then do an average of 38 points
of damage against an unarmoured opponent is just too overpowering! now you
could say well armour up the opposition, but then how many have AV4 to stop
all his damage, AV3 will reduce it to an average of 31, but that'll still
seriously injure anything of human size! now what disadvantages do Templars
get for using their powers, NONE, the Myrters yup, but you can still have a
very effective templar without any of em! you could say that the powers are
lesser, but then they still get NO disadvantages!
anyway I ramble far too much!
as for Lifetap, well show him how bad it can be to use wind, a few hits, and
a dust storm later and it's surprisingly low, just keep the action constant
for a few scenes and see if he hits rock bottom! as for fortitude, well it
is more balanced, but still maybe a bit too powerfull (haven't read into the
Brainburners 1 or the backlash tables yet, so don't take my word on this 1!)
as for Killer Tomatoes, well, I like to add a bit of stupidity or comedy, so
hey perfect!
well thats my ramblings anyway
