That is possible, I'd say.  Banshee being a past Earth, I mean.  But Earth
could very well become an over grown jungle planet...  Simply put:  Global
Warming.  Your Polar Ice Caps melt, and you've a few Billion more Gallons
of Water in the atmosphere, and that, added to the warmer temperatures make
for the perfect conditions to produce a Greater Amazon Basin, the whole
world over.
