Weeellll... Leibowitz is a nod to the Walter M. Miller novels _A Canticle
for Leibowitz_, and _St. Leibowitz and the Wild Horse Woman_.  St Leibowitz
is a monk in an order dedicated to preserving the old knowledge after an
apocalypse.  Later he becomes the patron saint of the same order.  Read
'em.  They're good.

Banshee and the Skinnies comes from Robert A Heinlein's _Starship
Troopers_.  Banshee IIRC, is the name of the first planet on the "warpath",
and the aliens are referred to as skinnies.  No matter what you thought of
the movie, you should check this book out- it's one of Heinlein's best.
