Was looking through my notes today, and I found something you could use 
for your little punkin.
	Everyone goes pestilence, maybe a little famine would be more the 
order.  I called them 'visitors' for lack of a more sinister name.  They 
come to a town, usually in the guise of a child, wounded person, pretty 
much a person you keep around yet doesn't have to work.  And while there, 
really all they do is dampen urges.  
	In otherwords, the people in the immediate area stop feeling 
hunger.  Mealtimes are missed, babies don't cry for food, pretty much 
everyone stops eating and goes on with their lives really only feeling a 
sense of 'fatigue' as time goes on.  Well, once everyone is too far gone, 
the visitor drops the illusion and everyone sees the emaciated souls they 
have become, they realize they've been starving their children, etc.  And 
the shock at that point usually finishes 'em off in a big burst of 
terror, desert for Famine's feast of starvation.  
	Have the party come across the remainders of the town, even play 
off yer little girl as the lone survivor.  Have her come along, and just 
have the party 'forget' mealtimes and only have them feel fatigue which 
will further drag them off the track since they don't realize they're 
starving to death!  This should go on until one party member asks 'when 
was the last time I felt hungry?', this being maybe two or three days 
ago, they may realize something's up.  
	That'll shake 'em!
