     I don't think it's a major problem to have someone "question their
Faith" after seeing something so horrible to the point of you failing a
Guts check. Without getting too religious, people question their Faith all
the time and for a lot less than seeing a minor abomination coming around
the corner ready to eat you (or worse).  If the character's Faith is strong
enough, then he'll manage and if it's not, he'll lose a bit of it.  Then
the player can role-play the character as starting to question whether or
not what he's doing is really making a difference and then can show how he
gets that point back.
     Hope this didn't just sound like a bunch of rambling.
