[HoE] I had a nasty thought this weekend...[Spoiler, long]
I had a bad thought this weekend during the Hell on Earth game...
This involves some spoilers, methinks.
SPOILER
SPACE
Okay, that should do it.
What if our good friend Dr. Hellstromme had managed to capture a Syker
for use in an Automaton?
I was kinda improvising the storyline in this weekend's Hell on Earth
game (as I had procrastinated too much to actually PLAN for it) and this
is what I came up with.
In WWII, some German Mad Scientist Frankenstein types created a 'glom
out of the bodies of several holocaust victims (thanks to whoever
spawned that idea...I can't remember who you are). Well, an attack was
lead on the research facility by Sgt. Samuel Wyrdrom, a Syker of the
CSA. During the battle, the now-completed 'glom was captured, but Sgt.
Wyrdrom was badly wounded, beyond any real medical help.
Upon returning to the CSA, the now-paraplegic Sgt. Wyrdrom fell into a
long bout of depression. One day, he was contacted by Dr. Hellstromme's
men. They could give him a new body...the body of an Automaton.
Hellstromme performed the delicate procedure and Wydrom served as
Hellstromme's personal bodyguard for many years. Shortly after
Hellstromme's disappearance, Wyrdrom shut his systems down (went into
Sleep mode..heh) and stayed that way until recently.
Now, in the meantime, the 'glom, dubbed the Wailing Zombie by the
Americans, had been kept locked up and, when cryogenics became a
reality, frozen and placed in a bunker far below a now-forgotten (and,
incidentally, the base turned into the survivor city that serves as a
home base for the game) military base in Nevada.
After the Reckoning, Wyrdrom awakened. Somewhere along the way of
learning what all had been going on, Wyrdrom's strong mind finally
snapped and he decided to take over Nevada (he knew that the Wailing
Zombie was somewhere in Nevada, but he doesn't know where). Braving the
radiation (and protected from it due to radiation shielding), he took
over Carson City and made a little militia out of the mutants (and one
bad-guy Doomsayer) that lived there and began the hunt for the Wailing
Zombie. He plans on using the Zombie as a kind of pack animal to chase
down any enemies that he encounters.
The posse first heard about Wyrdrom when they arrived at a small
survivor settlement to pick up medical supplies for their "hometown,"
NevMil. The people at the survivor town told them of a band of
hideouslsy mutated freaks and a robot that stole all of the medical
supplies (Hey, Wyrdrom figures he's gonna need supplies when he begins
taking over Nevada). So, the posse struck out and through luck (and the
fact that one of them is about to get Los Diablos after him and I was
getting sick of having them wander around and everyone else losing their
Fate Chips from LD) found some relatively friendly mutants that pointed
them towards Carson City.
And so, the Harrowed Huckster (yes, he took Veteran of the Weird West)
and the Harrowed Gunslinger (him too) and the Earth Syker Road Warrior
(with a machine-gun laden Hummer) are now camped right outside of the
wall of screaming souls around Carson City.
Ye gods, I hope I can use the Mutations chart next session! WHEEEE!!
