[HoE] One small complaint.... (SHANE)
I just got Road Warriors, cann't find Brain Burners anywhere in town, and
have the rest of the HoE books....and I am starting to notice something
that's bugging me just a little bit.
The game is too damn derivative. I mean Sylas raises Killer Tomatoes, RW
is almost a clean C&C (chassis and Crossbows - early Car Wars) knock off,
CW McCoy is a little too close to CW McCall (signer of Convoy), plus we
have the S-Mart Overloard, the Wizards in Seattle, etc.
Now before you slam me on my adaptations of characters, I think it's fine
for fans to do it....but when the people who are being paid to come up with
something fresh, and unique start doing it....well, I hat to say it about a
PEG product, but I think I'm throwing away my hard earned money, on
something I could have done myself.
All I'm saying is, get more origionallity....the references to pop-culture
are fine, if they stay small (Viridian Goliath, the Red Orcs in RW, etc.)
But when they start to become the game, then I start to feel cheated.
I know, It's my game, and I don't have to use it if I don't want too, but
the whole HoE world is starting to sound like one long, bad B-movie
rip-off, and not the same great original stories that we get in DL.
Well, there are my two cents worth...

P.S. - I loved Leftovers, cuz it was original, as was Hell or High Water
for the most part.
