Were it up to me, I'd say not... But the idea came originally from the
PEG website, so it's utterly legit. The only other one that I have seen
done is the Huxter/Mad Scientist (as shown in the City O' Gloom box
set), which worls pretty well. In theory, it would be possible to use a
Shaman/Martial Artist, as Shaman rules are suggested for one of the
Eastern religions (Taoism, I actually think...), but that's about as
good as it gets.

Deadlands you still can.
Well, this -was- the operant theory, until CotA came out... They have
suggestions for Sykers and Junkers O' Doom, both of which seem like odd
combinations to me... But again, it's not my call.
The only ones that don't seem to be allowed so far are Templar/Sykers,
but I don't know exactly what the reasoning is on this one considering
the previous two.
I mark all of this up to the "wait and see" theory.
Oh, and while I'm at it:

>>Europe?
I don't see why not, for any of your suggestions... They all sound
valid enough. Figure that the Templars here are based off of the
Masonic traditions which, while based from the original Templars, were
diluted from the original form quite a bit.
Just from following the list, I've seen plenty of concepts that live
well outside of the established rules but are plenty valid. (The
alternate Huxter ideas come to mind... I mean, not every spellcaster is
going to have to rely on Hoyle for their inspiration... He's just the
current fad, really.) You'd almost have to work at it to get something
that Shane & Co. would end up contradicting. I mean, it's implied that
the Templars themselves don't have a concrete religion, so it would be
hard for me to see how straightforward variants like yours would hurt
things.
