I doubt there is much by the way of resemblence, but its possible it was a nod
to Heinlein. In Starship Troopers, the Skinnies weren't sykers and didn't have
any powers, they were mostly just used as cannonfodder.

Then again, when PEG gets around to telling us what tore apart the Unity,
maybe it'll be the Bugs.
