I understand your question, but it's just not something I care to get into. We
could postulate all day on what might have happened if the South had won.
Things are the way they are because that's the way we want them. Want
rationalizations? I could give you plenty but I'm afraid I really just don't
have the time to get into such a detailed discussion on what would invariably
come down to differing opinions.
