Encoding is the only way to go if you wanna release a book of arcane
knowledge. The rangers and pinkertons would never let a book go by
unencoded! If it's encoded, technically, I don't think the pinks or
rangers could touch it w/o a messy legal battle about 1st amendment
rights (assuming the CSA has similar rights in it's constitution).
Maybe, though, encoding it wasn't his idea. Perhaps he helped the
USA/CSA deal with some communist spies in the fifties or something, so
they kind of owed him. Since they couldn't just let his book out,
they encoded it as a preventative measure. An idea anyways.
As for Lee dying, two points:
1)When I said he survived, I didn't mean to the present day, just past
the point where he died in real life. I figured he wrote his book
when was 95-100 years old, as a final testament, a master thesis.
2) His considerable powers would probably duck, dogde, catch, or
otherwise avoid anything anybody could throw at him. Probably has a
dodge of 20d12+8 or something crazy like that. Once he powerful
enough, it would be just like in his movies; an army of goons couldn't
take him down. It is feasible that Bruce Lee lived for 200 years or
so, up to the Hell on Earth. Maybe he's a mysterious figure that
appears when it seems all hope is lost, kicks some ass, then vanishes
back into the wilderness.
Hell, maybe's he's a Living Legend...
