[HoE] Re: swords of the apocalypse
I figure that the swords ofthe apocalypse are like the swords in the
novel: In the book, Vulcan is ordered to make the swords so that
humans can fight and kill for them, as a distraction for the gods.
However, Vulcan was a little disgruntled, so he imbued the swords with
the power to kill the gods. Mercury is killed by the blade,
Farslayer. The gods then scramble to get them back.
Maybe the reckoners put the swords on earth for the same reason; to
sow anger and discord among humans. However, they underestimated the
power of the swords, and now they've got a major problem on their
hands.
I like Steve's ideas on the powers of the swords. Their power is
dependant on the bearer, and his alignment. However, I figured that
no matter who used the weapon, it would slowly corrupt him, either
physically or mentally. One thought I had is that it would transform
the bearer in the image of the sword's "patron reckoner." The person
who has Gladius Pugna would become a living suit of armor, while the
bearer of Gladius Mortis would begin to decay, until only their
skeleton remained...
