Please, tell us you bought the book at the other place. I have never
mail ordered any gaming gear, living within easy access of several
stores, and I always try and support the local merchant whenever I can.
The reason I hope you bought the book at the other store is that the
same situation exists where I live. One store is close to my home,
walking distance, but is poorly stocked, poorly merchandised, and the
owner isn't willing to order anything. Back in the day, before i found
the other store (which is a good 15 minute travel to another town), i
always went to the closer store for purposes of convienience. Upon
entering the new store, Comic Heaven, I found the first 2 Deadlands
books, our eyes met across the room, violins, you get the idea. I asked
soon there after about the possibility of ordering a book, and I haven't
looked back. The owner knows if he gets the books in, i'll buy them. He
was willing to order the minis for me when no other store for miles
would, i've gotten prompt calls as soon as the books come in, etc. I
realize not everyone has the opportunity to build a good business
relationship with a local retailer, but from the folks on the list who
own stores or work at them (sorry all, names elude me at the moment)
they know how this goes. I wander to the other store to browse
occasionally, and when i was there recently the owner greeted me with
"You buying anything today, or just gonna look around?" I smiled at him,
waved cheerfully, and walked out the door. A game shop is probably a
risky enough financial situation to handle, a little courtesy to those
of us who buy the damn stuff never hurt.
