[HoE] New Templar Gifts
I've been looking over the HOE Rulebook, and I came up with two Gifts
that I think fill in the weak areas of the Templars. The first is to
make them useful against ghosts and others with invulnerability to
normal weapons. The second was made because I figure that most Templar
players are melee junkies like my brother, and thus need something like
Monkey Comes to The Mountain to get in close quickly.
Holy Weapon
This Gift is used by those Templars who are often faced with
Abominations who are immune to most weapons. To use it, the Templar
takes an action to make a faith roll against a TN of 7, with a +1 bonus
to his roll for every level in this gift. Once activated, whatever melee
weapon the Templar uses inflicts spiritual damage, harming creatures
normally vulnerable only to magic.
Greater Reward: The weapon inflicts pure spiritual damage, ignoring
any armor the abomination might have.
Charge of the Holy
This gift adds +1 to the Templar's Pace for every level the Templar
has. The Templars typically use it to close quarters quickly on
opponents using deadly ranged weapons and rocket launchers.
Greater Reward: The Templar can ignore the -4 runnin' penalty if he
is making a fightin' attack.
